2022 Summer Internship Experience

This summer, we welcomed our largest class of 8 interns to our team. The 12-week internship program offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a professional business environment, develop communication skills, gain connections and build relationships with Fleet Response employees.

The interns worked in several departments including claims, subrogation, maintenance, marketing and IT. They completed impactful projects including revision of the maintenance packet that is sent out to drivers and creating a Fleet Response TikTok account.

Alex Marcia:

Describe the work you completed during the summer.

During this internship, I was tasked with setting up and configuring Microsoftā€™s Sentinel software through the Azure Active Directory for Fleet Response. This involved me learning about the companyā€™s AAD, the functionality of Sentinel, and the programming language KQL. Using some test environments and templates provided by Microsoft, I implemented multiple analytics rules using logs from all the connectors Fleet Response had enabled so far and accompanied these rules with playbooks to perform automated tasks when triggered. To keep track of my work and to make it easier on the IT team, I then documented all my additions using excel. I would also help coworkers around the office if they had any technology-related issues!

What has been your favorite memory working at Fleet Response?

I have had a lot of great interactions and memories while working at Fleet Response. My favorite experiences have occurred when working with the other interns on the project we were assigned or eating lunch together outside on nice days. It was always interesting to hear about everyoneā€™s different roles within Fleet Response, and to bond over stories from high school and college.

How has the internship program impacted both your professional and personal growth?

My main takeaway from this internship was that no matter what position you work, there will always be a learning curve you must overcome and people to help you do so. Going into this internship, I knew I would have to spend some time learning before I could start working, but I didnā€™t expect there to be so many resources and co-workers I could refer to if I needed help. This has shown me that even in the professional world, you are not looked down upon by others when stuck on a task or job. Instead, everyone is there to support one another and provide guidance when needed!

During the internship program, I worked in marketing and social media. I was tasked with managing a social media content calendar in which I scheduled posts, designed graphics and wrote copy. This allowed me to become more familiar with the services that we offer. I wrote several articles regarding our services, employee engagement, and company news. The intern team and I also had the opportunity to assist with our employee of the year event. With the help of the other interns, I created a Fleet Response TikTok account that accumulated over 5,000 followers and 2,000,000 video views in just under 1 month.
