Name: Megan Zhao, Senior
What do you enjoy about Hudson High School?
I like how easy it is to try new activities, whether it be the plethora of clubs, or sports. Hudson also has many fabulous teachers and advisors and programs that reassure you that you’re supported in your endeavors.
What are some extracurricular activities you participate in?
National Honor Society, Soccer, Piano, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, Red Cross Volunteer
Why are you excited about working on these canvases for Fleet Response?
I’m excited about receiving a straightforward prompt and getting to be creative with it— it’ll be fun to work under no pressure and create a piece for someone besides myself or my family.
What do you like to do for fun or in your free time?
My go-to is practicing piano. I love watching movies as well, during which I like to do art. On the occasions when I’m not being unproductive on stolen time and am truly free, however, I like to find food that would be wasted and invent recipes.
What is your favorite subject and why?
Math. It’s straightforward.
What art that you have you created, are you most proud of and why?
I’m probably most proud of the first oil painting I ever did— it was an original concept (grapefruits being peeled open to reveal eyeballs), and it was a relatively stress-free process where I got to try a new medium.
What is your favorite style of art to create?
I gravitate towards surrealism because I can get creative with my concepts and use realism to give them impact to surprise people.
Name: Kathryn Palmieri , Senior
What do you enjoy about Hudson High School?
I enjoy going to Hudson High School because of the focus it has on the arts, and I enjoy having the chance to see my friends every day
What are some extracurricular activities you participate in?
I am very involved in the arts at school being involved with National Honor Society, drama club, choir, band, marching band, and jazz. I am also a part of NHS and key club for volunteering as well as being on crew for the morning announcements.
Why are you excited about working on these canvases for Fleet Response?
It is exciting to be making a piece of art for Fleet Response because I have never made such a big painting before, and it is very cool to have my art displayed outside of my home and school.
What do you like to do for fun or in your free time?
I enjoy painting and drawing at home as well as singing and playing guitar and piano. I also have two dogs that I love spending time with and training. I spend a lot of time with my friend during my free time as well.
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite classes are usually art because it is a relaxing environment, but I also enjoy English class, especially creative writing.
What art that you have you created, are you most proud of and why?
Over Christmas break last year I made a realistic drawing out of colored pencil that I still am very proud of. I think this is my favorite piece because I went out of my comfort zone and used a medium that I am normally intimidated by.
What is your favorite style of art to create?
I love painting with oil paint and watercolor and like to make realistic art but experiment with different colors.

What do you enjoy about Hudson High School?
I love all the opportunities we have here. No matter your interests, there are numerous ways to get involved in something.
What are some extracurricular activities you participate in?
Lacrosse, Science Olympiad, Random Acts of Kindness club
Why are you excited about working on these canvases for Fleet Response?
I’m looking to use my talents for art in the community and be able to create something to make people smile. I’m always enthusiastic about new projects.
What do you like to do for fun or in your free time?
I’m always making art, but I also love playing lacrosse with my friends, and listening to music.
What is your favorite subject and why?
I’ve always been a little bit of a math nerd. I just like the process and how there’s always something new to learn.
What art that you have you created, are you most proud of and why?
The pieces I have created that are my favorites are always personal to me. I love to involve my family into my work; they hold a special place in my heart. I try not to worry too much about each mark I make. I follow my intuition and let things flow naturally.
What is your favorite style of art to create?
My style is how I see things in my eyes. When I look at a picture, I paint the colors I envision. However, that may look on a canvas is the best depiction of what goes on in my head, and the style I feel most genuine working in.

What do you enjoy about Hudson High School?
I enjoy Hudson High School because I enjoy the variety of different classes that Hudson High School has to offer. I don’t have enough room in my schedule to take all of them!
What are some extracurricular activities you participate in?
I participate in many extracurricular activities, such as National Art Honor Society, Academic Challenge, Business Club, Journalism Club, Outdoor Society, Project Support, Drama Club, Science Olympiad, and Photo Club.
Why are you excited about working on these canvases for Fleet Response?
I am excited to be working on a piece of art for Fleet Response because I love doing art and I have never had my art displayed before.
What do you like to do for fun or in your free time?
In my free time I like to do art, bake, play with my dog, and watch Lois & Clark.
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite subject is art. I love art because I wouldn’t have the time to do art if I wasn’t taking an art class. Art is really relaxing and fun for me.
What art that you have you created, are you most proud of and why?
I am most proud of an oil pastel project I did recently. It was of my grandmother, and when I showed it to her, she was so happy and proud of me. I love doing so many styles of art, but I prefer doing realistic art.
What is your favorite style of art to create?
I love using different mediums to create realistic art.
